Wednesday Wishcasting #1: What dream do you wish to explore?

I wish I could find the courage to write my first book.

As it stands right now, I can't even seem to find the courage to get inspired to start my first book. Let alone write it from start to finish. I am absolutely terrified that I will fail miserably, which is completely unacceptable because all I've wanted my entire life was to be a published author. I can't be published if I don't write the book first. I just wish I could write the book first.

If you think the Wednesday Wishcasting looks like fun or just a nice change of pace drop by at the Jamie Ridler Studio and join in the fun. =)

You can do it! Just write for fun . Add doodles start an art journal. And enjoy your self. As It has improved my life and writing skills. I have no goals other than to freely share my knowledge. As I have found freedom from my inner critic. And I love that it was as easy as a choice. I choose to take control of my life. And not let my inner critic tell me I can not do any thing.
I so wish for you to succeeded.

As Dymphna wishes for herself, so do I wish for her also!

I totally understand this. I had a book (or several) in me for years and what finally got it out of me was NaNoWriMo.. just write write write! I've done THAT part, this year I have to do the REwrites!

Best of luck to you, you can do it!

I really do understand this. I've been feeling a call to write a book for years. I've got 2 valid platforms to write about and it scares the crap out of me. I can't get started either. Let's intend to make 2010 a year to get started! As you wish for yourself, I wish for you too.

Hi, Dymphna. If you read, and you have an idea what you want to write, then you can be a published author.

I love Nora Roberts's story: A voracious reader, in 1979, trying to find a new occupation, something she'd be good at, she started writing a novel in a notebook. But publishers rejected several manuscripts, before Silhouette published her first book in 1981.

So don't worry about failing. If you're ready to write a book, write it. And if you want to be a professional author, write another one after that. And another one after that. Until you hit your stride.

As Dymphna herself wishes, so I wish for her also.

Have you tried National Novel Writing Month? It goes on the month of November. That's when I wrote my novel. It was an amazing process! Google NaNoWriMo.

I completely relate to your wish. I think silencing the inner critic is key. Have you read The Artists Way by Julia Cameron? In it she talks about "morning pages" which are stream of consciousness writing you do every morning. You can get all your thoughts out, positive and negative, so your mind is free to then focus on other writing. Here's a link: http://www.theartistsway.com/.

As other commentors have written, NaNoWriMo also forces you to write without editing (or very little) because of the time constraint, so that might be something you could try.

Whatever you do, know that you are a writer, published or not, as long as you write. Your desire will get you there.

Many blessings!

As Dymnphna wishes, so I wish for her also. I said the same thing for over twenty years myself and finally accomplished it last November during NaNoWriMo. Now I have to gear myself up to actually revise it!

You can do it!

Hi Dymphna,

Perhaps, write a book with the intention of failing. That way you'll get the idea of failing out of the way.

Here's to a year filled with writing!
